there were not necesarrily 1 man + 1 woman couples. so to give some more benefit of the doubt you'd need to calculate with some 1 man + 3 women families or the like.
but then again, the hebrews probably never were in egypt.
i'm a newbie bible skeptic, but whenever i read the exodus account, i always had trouble swallowing the idea that a family of 70 people could possibly mushroom into a population of anywhere between 2-3 million in a matter of 215 years - (per the watchtower's timeline).
as i said before, math is not my strong suit, but here i will show my calculations regarding the possibility of this account, using the society's timeline.
i will ignore the fact that the bible says the nation of israel was in bondage in egypt for 400 years, and will instead use the 215 year timeframe, also because this harmonizes with the four generations from levi to moses.

i find it to be frankly disrespectful.
im a father, if my kids were to call me by my first name id find that wierd.
we address judges with "your honor" and various other titles, so why on earth would we call the almighty god by his first name?
funny thing is that in the bible there's not one occurrence of jesus using the name jehovah. he always says father, even when he tells his disciples how to pray. and there's also no "in jesus' name".
i posted this paine quote in the middle of another thread but thought it deserved its own.
this principle eluded me before reading the age of reason.
it's such a simple, basic concept of justice and yet so many christians miss it (as i did) or ignore it.. .
what the heck is free will?

facts based on 2010 yearbook.
top 30 lands with jw (from us - autralia) (mostly christian countries).

i once exchanged my time slip with my brother in law and we both wrote down 2 hours, which really ment we were not in service at all. it's very common. some would write 4 hours instead of 2...
and then there are those who drop a magazine in the morning, then drive half an hour, walk another half an hour and count all of it. but you HAVE to place a mag BEFORE all the driving. everyone's got their own stupid time calculation. it's mainly a method to avoid pressure, be it from the elders or the circuit overseer's talk.
it's a really common thing.
and make it fun!.

other titles i thought might work:.
OMFG!
what the hell is a pagan atheist?
if you're still in for the sake of others, how's it going?
what specific plan are you working on to get your loved ones out so you can leave, too?
how is that plan progressing?
i pretty much faded, my wife does not attend meetings with the rare exception of her family visiting. some JWs still talk to me, although pretty much everyone knows that i'm an atheist. i often visit my disfellowshipped sisters and my JW parents. i'm fine with the status quo. the WTS does not have any power over me, but still i know that i wont ever be able to remove it all from my life, because of family. i have several friends in a similar situation, which is great.
my wife and i live in a military area so it is natural that we encounter a great number of people who have benefitted from it and are living fairly good lives.
my wife and i talked about this some last week when it was found out that the unbelieving husband of the jw who babysits our daughter is retired air force.
this would explain why they are living so well.
in my country we still have obligatory military service (might change soon though), or optional civil service (working in an elderly home, the red cross, a kindergarden, concentration camp memorial service or similar). JWs were not allowed to join either some 15 years ago.
2 of my friends went to jail because they had to refuse civil service, although they didn't really understand the reasoning behind it. they served their time in jail and right after it the stance was changed and suddenly it was allowed to do civil service. i served one year in an elderly home.
a year or two after leaving the borg.
i was on shaky ground.. any major catastrophe in the world that took place, i thought.
today i can not think of one single event.
i'd go back if they'd start preaching free love, serve free beer in the meetings and turn the assemblies into a three day rock festival starring bullet for my valentine, linkin park and pink!
